Queer

For the longest time I've identified as bisexual. And it's true, I am bisexual. I am attracted to both men and women. But for a few years, I've been debating with myself about the validity of that sexual identity. A good portion of these debates stem from being involved with CampOUT and getting to know several super sexy transgendered folks. And while identifying as bisexual is all well and good, I feel that my attractions are not on a binary. A person biologically born female or male but identifies as the other gender or not as a gender at all can be just as attractive to me. And lately, due to one of my Lovlies being a transman (hehehe! Transman sounds like he should be some sort of superhero!), I've felt that bisexual doesn't fit anymore. Perhaps I've out grown the label. I feel it is much more accurate to call myself Queer.

For me, defining yourself queer is acknowledging you are attracted to people who are male or female or when the distinction between the two is perhaps a little "blury".

Let's be honest, a lot a straight guys are going to balk at the idea of dating a woman who was born a man, whether they have underdone surgery or not. This is equally true of women, and it matters not if the attraction is hetero- or homo-sexual.

It's a away or saying, "Hey I like you for who you are, and not simply because of what lies between your legs or how many Y chromosomes you have."

However, I do wonder at times what it means to not identify as any gender. It sounds pretentious, as if they are stating they above such trivial things as gender. I'm not trying to offend, I just don't understand it.

Personally, I don't "feel" like a man. I just am. One doesn't even think about it. I imagine you only question your sexual identity when something feels wrong, as if you should have been born into the opposite sex. Can a person question whether they should have been into neither sex?

I get hung up on "I like you for who you are and not simply for what lies between your legs..."
I can like and even love people and still be impacted as per sexual performance by what they're packing.
